Eddy Current uses electromagnetic induction with alternating currents passed through a coil. The coil produces alternating magnetic field. Used extensively in the aircraft industry and manufacturing industry to look for surface and subsurface defects. Also used in the Nuclear and Petro chemical industry on heat exchanger tubing. When the surface is properly cleaned Eddy Current (ET) can be a fast and very effective Nondestructive inspection.
ASME Sec VIII; ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC)
Section VIII of ASME is the code that covers the design, manufacturing, inspection and testing of pressure vessels that exceed 15 psig.
