Founded in 1919 the American Welding Society (AWS) is a nonprofit organization that is made up of members and panels of members. They are yearly contributing to advancing the science, technology, and application of welding and allied joining and cutting processes worldwide, including brazing, soldering and thermal spraying. If you’re looking for a very mobile, reliable and cost-effective method at finding surface and subsurface discontinuities. MT testing is the way to go on your ferrous material. When the magnetic field is disrupted by a break in the north and south poles the fine iron particles are attracted to the break in the magnetic field. Eddy Current uses electromagnetic induction with alternating currents passed through a coil. The coil produces alternating magnetic field. Used extensively in the aircraft industry and manufacturing industry to look for surface and subsurface defects. Also used in the Nuclear and Petro chemical industry on heat exchanger tubing. When the surface is properly cleaned Eddy Current (ET) can be a fast and very effective Nondestructive inspection.
