American Bureau of shipping is a standard that covers the building, repair and overhauling of vessels ranging from tug boats to container ships. Integrity Testlabs for several years now has been a ABS Service Provider. We are currently one of the only Non-Destructive test companies on the East Coast to have this certification. Integrity Testlabs has provided over 20 years of service to the Philly Ship Yard. We have experience inspecting cargo ships, tankers and Navy vessels that have been built at this facility. We have certified technicians available to handle any RT, UT, MT, PT, Wet Fluorescent Magnetic Particle inspections and Fluorescent Penetrant Inspections needs that arise during your ship building, ship repair, ship maintenance, hull repairs, hull thickness readings, propeller shaft inspection and propeller inspection.
Hybla Valley, VA Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
If you’re looking for a very mobile, reliable and cost-effective method at finding surface and subsurface discontinuities. MT testing is the way to go on your ferrous material. When the magnetic field is disrupted by a break in the north and south poles the fine iron particles are attracted to the break in the magnetic field. Dry or wet inspections can be very useful with dry being the advantage when parts are to hot to use the wet method. ITL has many certified MT technicians to perform inspections on your welds or parts.
Hybla Valley, VA Radiation Safety Officer (RSO)
Any Company providing Radiography services will need a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO). The RSO will oversee all codes and regulations regarding the storage and use of category 2 material. The RSO will oversee all daily activities by the crews. Making sure they are performing the work safely and using all safety devices. Ir-192 is what Integrity Testlabs uses the most to perform radiography. We use QSA Global as our service provider of source and equipment. The D/S-880 has been a trusted workhorse for ITL techs out in the field. ITL is still using source projectors that are over 20 years old.
ANST Level I and Assistants
Becoming certified or learning about Nondestructive testing can be achieved in two ways. Enrolling in a school that provides a certificate or degree or getting hired on with a company with no knowledge of the industry and learning on the job. Typically 40hrs of radiation safety is the first step/certificate that is needed to get started. Once the Assistant has had some time in the industry the company will provide them with classroom training either in house, computer based or sending them to a course provided by a known 3rd party. When the Assistants meets the required OJT hours and classroom time. They will test with the company they are with by completing a specific, general and practical exams. When this is completed, they are now a Level II technician.
API 510 Inspector in Hybla Valley, VA
This is an individual certification that is achieved through API testing program that test individuals on their knowledge of inspections, maintenance, repairs and alteration of pressure vessels. This certificate is recognized worldwide. Most individuals have many years of inspection experience of the internals of a pressure vessel, performing Ultrasonic Thickness readings, Visual Inspections and other various NDT methods. Having an understanding of how the operations of the facility work also helps you understand where failures might occur in the different variety of vessels. Integrity Testlabs has API 510 in house and contractors that can help your company keep up with planned and unplanned maintenance and help start or maintain corrosion programs.
C-scan, Shearwave and Phased Array
Automated Corrosion Mapping uses C-scan to do corrosion maps to find flaws on the shells of equipment and piping. AUT can produce very detailed reports for clients to visually see where the corrosion is happening. Shearwave uses high frequency sound waves to identify flaws in the material. Sensitive to surface and subsurface discontinuities it’s a superior inspection tool wen compared to other NDT processes. Phased Array is known for its capabilities to send multiple singles into material to produce highly repeatable results and detailed and accurate cross sections of components. This makes Phased Array a needed to tool to inspect complex shaped parts.
